Flavia Pennetta will face Caroline
Wozniacki for the seventh time in their careers at Tokyo
Former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki is
not having an easy 2013 season. The Danish player hasn’t won a single title this
season, since 2008 Wozniacki has won at least one title per season. Caro’s last performance at US Open was
very disappointing losing in the third round against an inspired Camila Giorgi
and this will be her first game in almost a month.
Flavia Pennetta found her best tennis at US
Open with some outstanding performances defeating in straight sets players like
Sara Errani, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Simona Halep and Roberta Vinci. Solid
baseline play with powerful groundstrokes makes Pennetta a very dangerous opponent.
The Italian was victorious in Tokyo’s first round against Daniela Hantuchova 6 –
3 6 – 3.
Wozniacki leads 5 – 1 the head-to-head
against Pennetta and despite being favorite the Danish will have to fight hard
if she wants to beat Pennetta for the sixth time. Flavia is playing amazing
tennis and my prediction will be for a victory from the Italian former top 10.
