US Open Day 7 - The Champions Preview

This Sunday the two champions will be in action, Andy Murray will try to get his third career victory over Florian Mayer while Serena Williams looks to revenge Australian Open loss against Sloane Stephens

Andy Murray vs Florian Mayer

The current champion Andy Murray will face Florian Mayer and will try to get a third career victory over the German.
Mayer has never reached the fourth round in this competition, and after good performances against Juan Monaco and Donald Young, he is looking to beat last years’ winner. Both players have faced this year at Madrid in a very interesting match where Murray won 7 – 6 (11) 7 – 6 (3).
Murray knows Mayer is a very dangerous players, the German has already won against Rafael Nadal in this surface two years ago at Shangai, and the British has to be very aggressive from the baseline, especially in the return, not allowing Mayer to get in the net behind his serve.
Murray should get a good win here in straight sets to get a place in the fourth round

Serena Williams vs Sloane Stephens

Serena Williams will try to revenge the Australian Open defeat against Sloane Stephens, after that match the relation between both has deteriorated itself and this will be a war between the two best American players.
After a difficult game against Mandy Minella, Stephens has found her game and won in straight sets against Urszula Radwanska and Jamie Hampton.  She has to play aggressive and move Serena from one side to another, otherwise the number one will fire winners after winners.
Williams had three very easy matches allowing just 8 games in those meetings and she is concentrated in getting her fifth US Open title.

Serena is the favorite and will prove why she is the number one in the world winning in straight sets
