Gulbis fights back and wins second season title

Ernest Gulbis was down a set and a break, but was still able to overcome Guillermo Garcia-Lopez

Garcia-Lopez played wonderful tennis in the first set, especially on the return of serve breaking Gulbis three times. The Spanish took the first one 6 – 3 with 86% first serve points won and also great numbers at first serve in, 71%.
It seemed that Garcia-Lopez was going to be the next St. Petersburg champion when the Spanish got a 4 – 1 lead in the second set, but Gulbis started to fire some outstanding winners and won five straight games to take this match into a decider.

Garcia-Lopez struggled with his body and the third set was all about Gulbis. The player from Latvia only lost 5 points in the third set and after 1 hour and 45 minutes claimed his second season title, after his triumph at Delray Beach.
