Serena
Williams and Venus Williams will play today at Beijing’s second round against
Francesca Schiavone and Sabine Lisicki respectively.
Serena
defeated Elena Vesnina in two easy sets on the first round and will take on
Schiavone for the third time this year after easy wins on Toronto (6 – 3 6 – 2)
and US Open (6 – 0 6 – 1). Francesca isn’t
able to deal with Serena powerful shots and the World No. 1 should take another
easy two sets victory.
After last
week’s great performance at Tokyo, Venus Williams tries to keep the good
momentum here at Beijing. This should be a very fiery contest between two aggressive
players who hit the ball very strong. Venus is lightly favorite, but Lisicki
has quality to take this match and I think the German may surprise here and
defeat another Williams’ sister like she did at Wimbledon against Serena.
