Challenger Tour Updates: Petange

Petange: French top seeds out

The two top seeds of this Petange Challenger are from France, Kenny de Schepper and Nicolas Mahut, and the nationality isn’t the only thing this two have in common, both were eliminated in the first round of Petange Challenger.

Kenny de Schepper was seeking for his third career victory over Karol Beck, but the 6’8’’ was broken four times and lost his 8th straight game. Schepper had a 4 – 1 lead on the second set, but allowed Beck to win five straight games to close the match.
Nicolas Mahut started all the way against Stefan Seifert taking the first set 6 – 1, but since that first set the Newport champion struggled with his serve, winning only 25% of points on his second serve in the two following sets.

Karol Beck 6 – 4 6 – 4 Kenny de Schepper (1)
Stefan Seifert 1 – 6 6 – 3 6 – 2 Nicolas Mahut (2)

Ricardas Berankis, Tobias Kamke and Jan-Lennard Struff were the other seeds in action today, but all of them were able to get comfortable victories in straight sets.

Ricardas Berankis (7) 6 – 3 6 – 2 Yannick Mertens
Tobias Kamke 6 – 3 6 – 2 Constantine Lestienne (Q)

Jan-Lennard Struff 6 – 0 6 – 0 Joe Hatto (W)
