WTA Beijing – Serena Williams starts title quest in style

World No. 1 Serena Williams opened her campaign at Beijing with comfortable win over Russian Elena Vesnina 6 – 4 6 – 2. 

The first set was a close one and Williams dropped her serve twice, but at 4 – 4 she got a decisive break and served for the first set with authority.



The second set was all about Serena, not facing a single break point and only losing 5 points on serve. The American broke two times Vesnina's serve to get a place in the second round.




In the next round she’ll face Francesca Schiavone, the Italian was leading 3 – 2 in the first set when Alize Cornet retired.
